Family is the heart of our business. We are family owned and operate our  business with lots of laughter and plenty of togetherness. We believe if you can't have fun at work then why do it.  It's that strong love and sense of joy that we put into each and every candle. Strega Moon was born in our kitchen while living in Winter Harbor, Maine after returning from a four year tour of duty in Sigonella, Sicily.  We quickly earned a reputation for producing a quality candle and superior customer service with a smile. Our customers were telling us that our candles are better than a larger more well known New England candle company. We knew when we were asked to fill that companies containers with our candles that we were definitely headed in the right direction. Word spread throughout craft fairs and visiting tourist, soon forming a loyal customer base that still exist today.

The inspiration for our candles as well as part of our name comes from Sicily. Strega , (which means witch in Italian) is the name of a popular and unique drink that is made in the small town of Benevento, Italy. Once you taste the candy and pastry made with this walnut based drink it's unforgettable. Our name honors the wonderful Italian artisans that inspired our business. When looking for a company name we wanted something unique, and after kicking around tons of names Strega Moon Candle was created.  We think it's a perfect name since candle making is a bit of science, art and a touch of magic all brewed together to get one great candle.

We work hard to only produce candles of the highest quality using alcohol free fragrance oils, waxes, and dyes made especially for candle production. We mix, blend and test, test test until our standards are met before we offer it to you.  We will never use any wick that is not lead free in the making of our candles. Every candle is still hand poured when you order.  We hope you will enjoy your candles as much as we enjoy making them just for you.

A decade later family is still the heart of our business although some things change. For three of our family members Strega Moon is a second career. Leo is now retired from the Navy and works as a dietary director for a hospital. Cooking is still his favorite thing and he loves to talk about recipes. Candice is in resturant management and Angela works as a medical biller while she finishes college. Lois retired from nursing in 2003 and Strega Moon is her full time job. She is the major creative force, web designer and mad scientist in Strega Moon. Throughout it all one thing remains a constant, we all love the excitement of being in a business together, okay maybe two things haven't changed we all still love candles, making them, burning them and sharing them with you.
